Today members of Bolton NEWT were joined by Litter Pickers of North Bolton to clear rubbish strewn along Blenheim Road in Breightmet and on New House Farm playing fields. It was fabulous to work together with a common purpose of making the environment a better place for the local community. Our Christmas present to the people who live in this area of Bolton.
We were brought together by Bolton Green Umbrella and volunteers included: Eileen, Ian, Barb, Jean, Diane, Phil, Bob and Pauline. Even though it was cold and rainy our spirits were good this Sunday morning and it was lovely to meet new people and learn about heir passion for keeping Bolton clean.
Dolly (above) had a great time with her mum, using her litter picking stick and she enthusiastically got involved and collected lots of rubbish. It was then time to clear some of the fly-tipping on the playing field and we managed to collect a large mound of random objects.
Jasmine, of course, was on the look out for weird things from which to make art and went away happy with some bed springs - don't ask!
Thank you to everyone involved and we have another similar event planned for January.
